From Local Fields to the World Stage: Dream Big, Young Footballers—Your Journey Has Just Begun!

Dominica's young Bouyon Boys' 4–2 victory over Hungary at the FIFA U-15 World Cup & Festival in Azerbaijan carries a powerful message for young footballers across the country: the players you compete alongside and against today can become your teammates on the international stage tomorrow.
Most of Dominica's players at the festival competed in the recently concluded domestic U15 league. They played on our local grounds, represented their clubs and faced many of the young footballers now watching them represent the nation.
For every player who participated in that league, this should be a source of inspiration. These are familiar faces embracing an extraordinary opportunity. Their journey shows why every training session and competitive match matters.
Against Hungary, Roqson Coipel scored twice, while captain Caqrlique Prevost and Peyton James contributed a goal each. After Hungary recovered from two goals down to draw level, Dominica responded with two more goals—a reminder to keep believing and competing when a game becomes difficult.
Hungary is an established European football nation whose senior men's side has featured among the world's top 40. While senior rankings do not measure U15 teams, the encounter gave Dominica's youngsters valuable experience against players from a different football environment.
With 189 national teams participating and international streaming bringing the competition to audiences beyond Azerbaijan, the festival offers young players opportunities to experience different cultures, test their abilities and represent their country with pride.
From Dominica to the world, football is opening doors.
For Portsmouth Bombers FC, seeing Jayden Thomas and Edrick Augustine among the national squad makes this journey especially meaningful. Their opportunity should inspire every young player training on our local fields to dream bigger and remain committed.
Our U15 team's third-place finish in the recently concluded tournament also provides a foundation to build upon. The next step requires continued effort, discipline and a willingness to learn.
That message extends to every young footballer, whatever club you represent. Take note of what your peers are experiencing. Let their opportunity encourage you to attend training consistently, listen to your coaches and take responsibility for improving your game.
Work on your first touch. Learn to protect possession. Move into space when you do not have the ball. Support your teammates and respond positively to mistakes. Your daily habits help prepare you for future opportunities.
The final whistle of the U15 league should mark the beginning of another period of development. Keep practising, keep competing and stay ready. Let the achievements of those representing Dominica give you another reason to return to training with purpose.
Portsmouth Bombers FC congratulates the young Bouyon Boys and encourages every player who competed in the U15 league to draw inspiration from their journey.
You have shared the field with them. Believe in your potential, learn from their journey and put in the work to pursue your own.
